Winter Solstice Ride

Not long now, and the sun will start to climb a little higher in the sky in it's daily arc, and our days will start to lengthen. We still face the coldest month, July, but that knowledge can be tempered with the increasing day length and the lurking Spring.

To that end, it's time to celebrate the Winter Solstice and Matariki. Recent discussions with CTB and I have led to the following plan.

Meet Potters Park (Corner Balmoral and Dominion Roads) at 06:00 hours, on Saturday 25th June.
From there we will traverse the bikepath west and end up taking in the sheer hell that I described in my last post, the goal is to be on Scenic Drive to see, and toast, the sunrise.

We will follow that with a roll back and a civilised coffee.

  1. Bother, I will be in Barcelona at said time. Will try to make Jay get out of bed early to attend. Will make sure DB badgers him at work about it.

  2. Blast! You should nominate a couple of proxies for the task as well as Jay, that way you can make several folk suffer while you enjoy the Northern climate.

    Did you tackle this climb??

  3. Yes, I may have one of two in mind.
Haven't tackled the climb yet, have just been wiped out with a nasty flu. Might put the race wheels on to do it too.

  4. Have fun when you do, race wheels, that's fighting talk! The metal section is in pretty good nick, so go for it.

  7. That is the one! It will be fun with a group.

Between you and DB, I don't think Jay has the choice of not attending this Saturday and partaking of this particular pleasure.
